How are you going to decide which words to learn first? It does not matter. I will learn all of them which I come across.. I will ask myself: Do I need this word for my daily life or work? It does not matter at all. What is de best time to learn new words? At the weekends. In the classes. During the day but I need to repeat my new words in the morning and evening. During the day. What is Passive vocabulary? All words which I already know but do not use in my speaking. All words which I use in my speaking. What is Active vocabulary? All words which I can read and understand. All words which I already know. All words which I can understand. All words which I use in my speaking and writing. What is your first learning goal? To understand the meaning of Dutch words. To learn as many words as possible. To be able to make simple questions and reply to them fast. To read as much as possible and watch movies and cartoons. What is DRT? Is the time within I start to say something or reply to a question. Is time within I finish my sentence or my question. Is time within I can understand what is another person saying. What is your DRT goal? I need to speak fast, spending max 2 seconds for each answer or question. I need to be able to make simple questions fast and reply to them within 4 sec. I need to be able to understand simple questions within 2 sec. I need to be able to make simple questions and reply to them within 2 sec. Why is the DRT of less than 2 sec important? People will not understand what I am trying to say. I will not understand what other people are saying. People will not wait for my answer and will switch my conversation to English. How can you build confidence in your speaking? I need to watch a lot of movies and cartoons. I need to learn more words. I need to have as many small successful conversations as possible. Where can you find Dutch people with plenty of free time for speaking practise? In a place like an elderly home doing volunteer work. In a shop. Working neighbors. At work. What should you do to develop your active vocabulary quickly? I should listen to Dutch radio, watch movies and try to ask questions. I should read more, listen more and learn as many new words as possible. Is listening to BNR radio important? Not so important. Reading is more important than listening. If you are not going to build your Database of speech recognition, you will not be able to understand what other people are saying (Speech recognition). Also, your pronunciation will develop slowly and you will not be able to reply to questions. What can you do when you are stuck in your conversation? I will try to manage my conversation by using Dutch FAQ. I will smile and say nothing. I will stop and switch my conversation to English. What can you do when you do not remember a right Dutch Noun in your conversation? I will replace it by English one and I will keep speaking Dutch. I will switch my conversation to English.
